4.5Inch Magnesium Anode Rod Pack

This pack contains two magnesium anode rods, each 4.5 inches (115 mm) long and 0.5 inch (13 mm) in diameter, featuring 1/2 inch NPT male threads. Made from magnesium alloy with a steel central core for durability and reliable threading. Compatible exclusively with Atwood RV water heaters such as model 11553. Also includes one roll of PTFE tape (random colour, no substitutions). The rods function by electrochemical sacrifice: magnesium corrodes preferentially over the steel tank, absorbing dissolved oxygen, sulphates and other aggressive ions in water. This process delays tank wall thinning, pitting and eventual failure. Visual inspection is key — replace when more than 50% of the magnesium material is consumed. Keeping spares onboard aligns with best-practice RV maintenance schedules across European campgrounds and UK motorhome routes.
