CAN Controller Area Network is an ISO-standardized serial communication protocol. CAN’s performance and reliability are widely recognized and it is commonly used in industrial automation, marine applications, medical equipment, and industrial machinery. Compared with traditional RS-485 buses, the CAN bus offers multiple advantages. This CAN Shield uses the MCP2515 CAN controller and TJA1050 CAN transceiver (similar in function to the MAX485 transceiver used in RS-485 systems). It includes comprehensive documentation and a reference library compatible with the Arduino platform, enabling direct installation for CAN communication between boards. It is suitable for students and engineers developing custom CAN bus solutions. Fully supports CAN 2.0 protocol specification; maximum data rate: 1 Mbps; includes two indicator LEDs. Features external UART and I²C expansion interfaces. High-speed SPI interface supporting up to 10 MHz. Operating voltage: 4.8V – 5.2V. Operating current: approximately 30 mA. Color: As shown.
