Durable Black PE Hood for Celestron C8HD

Specifically sized for Celestron’s C8HD, 8SE and C8 optical tubes, this hood uses precision-moulded black polyethylene to deliver consistent fit and functional reliability. Its cylindrical profile extends forward from the front cell, fully enclosing the corrector plate’s edge while allowing unobstructed focuser travel and diagonal clearance. The material is UV-stabilised and resistant to mild moisture, making it suitable for regular UK outdoor use. The hood enhances imaging consistency by eliminating variable light scatter — whether from passing car headlights, garden floodlights or residual daylight haze. It supports more predictable exposure outcomes and simplifies post-processing by reducing flat-field correction demands. As a physical interface, it also prevents unintentional pressure on the corrector plate during eyepiece changes or accessory attachment — a common source of stress-induced micro-fractures over time. Lightweight and corrosion-free, it adds no electrical load or magnetic interference — making it safe for use alongside GoTo systems, autoguiders and DSLR/mirrorless imaging rigs without compatibility concerns.
