The BNO080 / 085 is a 9-axis system-in-package (SiP) designed for rapid development of sensor-enabled augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), robotics, and IoT devices. It features high-performance accelerometers, magnetometers, and gyroscopes integrated with a low-power 32-bit ARM M0+ MCU in a compact package. Hillcrest's Freespace sensor hub software is pre-integrated on the BNO080 / 085 to deliver advanced 9-axis and 6-axis motion tracking.The BNO080 / 085 offers application-specific configuration, functionality, and performance in a small turnkey assembly, helping reduce time-to-market, development time, and costs, while delivering high accuracy and quality.This VR IMU utilizes the BNO080 IMU, which combines a 3-axis accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer with an ARM M0+ processor running sophisticated algorithms. The BNO080 Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) produces precise rotation vector outputs, ideal for VR and heading applications, with static rotation errors of 2 degrees or less. All sensor data is fused and drift-corrected to provide reliable and accurate IMU information.The IC is designed for integration into mobile devices to support virtual reality applications by handling necessary motion calculations. The sensor delivers powerful functionality with complex signal processing. An I2C-based library is provided, offering access to rotation vectors, acceleration, gyroscope and magnetometer readings, step count, activity classification (e.g., walking, cycling), and calibration status.A demo processing application is available to demonstrate how IMU motion data, including quaternion output, can be used to accurately control 3D objects.In addition to I2C, the sensor supports SPI and UART communication interfaces. For UART connections, use of a Serial Basic board is recommended for easy interfacing.This version includes an onboard 32 kHz crystal for improved timing precision and more accurate timestamps.Interfaces: The BNO080 supports multiple communication interfaces.
