Micrometer 0-25mm 0.01mm Outer Vernier Caliper for Precision Metal Measuring and Engineering
Product description and user instructions
Key benefits
Accurate, repeatable outside measurements for parts in the 0–25 mm range.
Simple zero adjustment and mechanical locking for consistent results and easy calibration.
Built-in ratchet/force control (clicks) helps ensure the same measuring force each time, reducing user error.
What this product does
Measures external dimensions (diameters, thicknesses, lengths) within the 0–25 mm range.
Provides a calibrated baseline that can be corrected if the zero lines are not aligned.
Includes a locking device to hold a measurement for recording or comparison.
Important attributes
Measuring range: 0–25 mm (for the direct-alignment model).
Zeroing method: direct alignment using a 25 mm gauge (bar gauge) to establish quasi-zero.
Adjustment method: mechanical sleeve/screw adjustment with screwdriver and wrench for fine zero correction.
Measuring control: rotating thimble/ratchet that provides audible clicks to indicate consistent contact force.
Locking: manual lock that secures the spindle position to retain measurements.
Preparation and zero check
Clean the measuring faces and anvil thoroughly before use to remove debris, oil, or burrs.
For the 0–25 mm model, place a 25 mm gauge block (bar gauge) between the measuring faces to obtain the quasi-zero position before final zero adjustment.
Zero correction procedure
If the zero line on the thimble is not aligned with the baseline when closed on the gauge block:
Slightly loosen the locking screw with a screwdriver.
Use the supplied wrench to rotate the sleeve/spline to shift the baseline until the 0 line and the baseline align.
Tighten the locking screw securely once alignment is correct.
Refer to the product user manual illustrations for the exact screw and sleeve locations if needed.
Measuring technique
Hold the micrometer so it is perpendicular to the workpiece surface. Ensure stable contact between measuring faces and the part.
Rotate the thimble using the ratchet/force control until the measuring faces make contact. The ratchet will produce slight "click, click..." sounds; the final click indicates the proper measuring force and the correct reading.
Read the scale when the ratchet has engaged and the clicks indicate stable contact.
Locking and measurement retention
To lock a measurement, move the locking lever or knob to the left (lock position).
To release and continue measuring, move the locking lever or knob to the right (release/relax position).
Use the lock to hold readings for recording or to transfer the micrometer without losing the set position.
Practical use scenarios
Quality control inspection: Verify external diameters of shafts, pins, and small machined parts to ensure they meet tolerance.
Workshop layout and setup: Measure thicknesses of shims, washers, and small components when fitting assemblies.
Maintenance and repair: Check wear on rotating parts or measure replacement parts to confirm correct sizing.
Care and best practices
Always clean measuring faces before and after use.
Avoid applying excessive force; allow the ratchet to set the measuring pressure.
Store the micrometer in its protective case to prevent damage and contamination.
Re-check zero periodically and after any shock or rough handling.
Notes
Follow the provided user manual diagrams for screw and sleeve positions during zero correction.
Use only appropriate gauge blocks or bar gauges for calibration and zero setting.
