Optical Crystal Dandelion Ornament

Precision-ground K9 optical crystal sphere (25–26 mm diameter), containing a real dandelion fully encased in archival-grade transparent resin. The dandelion is centred and aligned prior to resin pouring, then subjected to vacuum degassing to eliminate micro-bubbles. Final 3D inner laser engraving is calibrated per unit to match the exact position and orientation of the botanical specimen. Polished to λ/4 surface accuracy — meaning deviations less than 158 nm — ensuring diffraction-limited light transmission. Weight: ~90 g ±5 g. No metal, paint or adhesive used. Compatible with all standard desk materials including glass, wood and steel. Designed for longevity: K9 crystal hardness (6–6.5 Mohs) resists scratching from pens, keys or daily handling; resin layer withstands thermal cycling between 5°C–30°C without delamination. Intended as a quiet focal point — not a loud statement piece — aligning with growing UK preference for ‘slow decor’: objects with provenance, craft integrity and lasting emotional resonance over disposable trend-led items.
