描述
A. Product Description
- This refractometer is used to measure the sugar content in grape must, and then the alcohol content in (wine made from) grape juice can be estimated through the scale. Meanwhile, by measuring the alcohol content (by volume) in the wine juice fermented from grape juice, the grape juice fermentation process can be monitored.
- Measuring Range: Brix: 0 - 40%; Alcohol Content: 0 - 25%.
- Easy to Use: Drop 2 - 3 drops of the sample on the main prism, close the cover plate, and read the Brix value through the observation window.
- Calibration Method: At a temperature of 20°C, use distilled water for zero - calibration. It has an automatic temperature compensation (ATC) function from 0 - 30°C.
- Product Packaging: A refractometer, a hard plastic case, a mini - screwdriver, a pipette, and an instruction manual.
B. Product Use
This refractometer is mainly used to measure the sugar content of grape juice to predict the alcohol content of the wine to be brewed. Since the alcohol content of wine is positively correlated with the sugar content of grape juice. Of course, it can also be used as a saccharimeter. It is designed based on the principle that liquids with different concentrations have different refractive indices, and has the advantages of fast measurement speed, high accuracy, light weight, and small volume.
C. Usage Method
- Open the cover plate and carefully wipe the prism with a soft cloth.
- Drop a few drops of the solution to be tested on the detection prism, then gently close the cover plate to avoid air bubbles and make the solution evenly cover the entire prism surface.
- Aim the light - inlet plate of the instrument at a light source or a bright place, observe the field of view through the eyepiece, and turn the eyepiece adjustment wheel to make the blue - white dividing line in the field of view clear. The scale where the dividing line is located is the concentration of the solution.
D. Calibration and Temperature Calibration
- Before measurement, the instrument needs to be zero - calibrated. Put a few drops of distilled water on the detection prism, turn the zero - adjustment screw to adjust the scale to the 0% mark on the dial. Then wipe the detection prism and conduct the test.
- Another method (only applicable to measuring sugar content) is to use the temperature correction table and then add (or subtract) the temperature correction value from the value read at the ambient temperature to obtain a relatively accurate value. (The instruction manual comes with a temperature correction table for sugar content.)
