This STC89C52-based development board offers a balanced blend of compact size (approx. 90 mm × 77 mm / 3.54 in × 3.03 in) and rich peripheral integration. It runs on a stable DC5V supply and uses the STC89C52 microcontroller with selectable 11.0592 MHz or 12 MHz crystal frequency — optimised for accurate UART communication and timer-based applications. Hardware highlights include: ISP programming interface (supports STC89C52, AT89S52 and ATMEGA16), active buzzer, power switch and LED, TX/RX status indicators, PL2303 USB-serial chip, DS18B20 temperature sensor header, 38 kHz IR receiver header, ZIF socket for DIP-40 ICs, and two fully routed LCD interfaces — one for 16×2 character displays and another for 128×64 graphic displays. All connectors follow standard 2.54 mm pitch and are silk-screened with pin labels for quick identification. The board avoids unnecessary complexity — no onboard voltage regulators or level shifters — preserving signal fidelity and simplifying power management for instructors and hobbyists. Widely adopted in UK vocational training centres and university engineering departments, it supports project-based learning where students progress from blinking LEDs to multi-sensor embedded applications — all on the same proven hardware platform.
