Weed Suppressing Moisture Conserving Mulch

A precision-sized non-woven mulch film, 1.5 metres long and 8 centimetres wide, crafted for targeted application in domestic and small-scale commercial horticulture. The fabric is free from coatings or laminates, relying solely on fibre density and weave openness to deliver dual functionality: light exclusion for weed control and vapour-permeable structure for soil breathability. Its primary role is to reduce evaporative loss from bare soil surfaces while maintaining gaseous exchange — a critical balance often missed by impermeable black plastic alternatives. This makes it particularly effective in UK’s maritime climate, where cool, humid air meets warm soil — a condition prone to condensation and poor root oxygenation under non-breathable covers. Validated for use with nightshade-family vegetables (tomatoes, potatoes, eggplants) and soft fruit (strawberries), where consistent soil conditions translate directly into improved flowering synchrony, fruit sizing and harvest window extension.
